From a Wedding Gift to a Haven of the Aristocracy
Nestled in the hills of Saint-Tropez and surrounded by the lush vineyards of Ramatuelle, the Château de La Messardière embodies all the grandeur and elegance of the past.
Built in the 19th century, this sumptuous château was originally a wedding gift from Gabriel Dupuy d’Angeac, a wealthy cognac merchant, to his daughter Louise Dupuy d’Angeac and her husband, cavalry officer Henry Brisson de La Messardière.
Renewal and Rebirth
After changing hands several times and enduring years of neglect, the château was finally restored in 1989 under the direction of Jean-Claude Rochette, chief architect of France’s Historic Monuments.
The restoration infused the building with a blend of Anglo-Moorish, Oriental, Mediterranean, Florentine, and Provençal styles, preserving its historic charm while adding a more modern elegance.
A Palace in Saint-Tropez
A new era began in 2019 when the Château joined the Airelles collection. Extensive renovations then began ahead of the grand reopening scheduled for July 2021. Today, the Château de La Messardière holds the prestigious Palace status, harmoniously blending historic charm and modern elegance in Saint-Tropez.
